Due to the end of Daylight Saving Time and the days continuing to get shorter the last real estate photo appointment of the day will start no later than 2:00 PM.
From my years of experience shooting real estate photography I’ve found REALTORS are happier with the results from photos shot earlier in the day.
Although many introductory photography books promote the hours before sunset as the golden hour, for some subjects, including homes, it isn’t a good time of day. The main reason for this is caused by the suns lower position in the sky. This can increase the chances of harsh long shadows from trees, utility poles, and other homes being cast across the exterior of properties. For interior photos it can also cause problems as there is even more contrast between the interior and exterior light leading to situations where the lighting conditions aren’t ideal for producing the most compelling photos.
With less hours available for shooting my schedule can fill up, so schedule your appointment in advance so you don’t miss out. I’ll begin to expand hours when the days start to get longer again starting in March.
